Short description of the pilot project
Renovation of the existing school space of a former holiday center with ecological materials as insulation/equipment inside.

Process and planning quality
Current phase: definition of the program with the owner to define his order for the project management team. The design of the renovation by the project management team will start in spring 2014; construction will start in spring or summer 2014. Last step: monitoring of the building and its equipment,
Objectives in terms of energy efficiency should be reached: low consumption building (BBC renovation=64 kWh / m² / year) + variation according to the altitude

Implementation of service package
All the modules of service package will be implemented.
1st step: Program definition (need, constraints, feasibility studies, energy performance, environmental quality), support on sustainable public procurement
2ndstep: support on the different conception project steps and during the construction
3rd step: implementation of a monitoring system

Energy and UtilitiesSchool_La Cabanasse_3

a)    Specific lighting demand
low consumption lighting, presence detection

 c)    Renewable energy
Wood boiler

Health and Comfort
There is no need on thermal summertime comfort considering the geographical location (1.500 m altitude). Acoustic comfort is achieved through the realisation of efficient double glazing. The roof insulation and walls will be performing on an acoustic and thermal level.

Building materials and constructions School_La Cabanasse_2

 a)     Avoidance of PVC
The use of wood will be advised, like other ecological materials to preserve the health of users.

b)     Ecological optimization of building materials
The proximity of production of these materials will be a factor of choice (local resources).

Deviations
The project is located near a site classified as historical monuments, the Vauban Citadel of Mont-Louis, heritage by Unesco.
