Rhône-Alpes region

Description of the regional strategy for sustainable building: pdf (update 15.06.2013)

More about the region:

The Rhône-Alpes region lies at the natural crossroads of major national and European axes of communication. This situation makes it a region where diversity is the key-word: the region is a geographic, climatic, sociological and cultural puzzle, totalizing 2879 municipalities. More than half of the territory is at an altitude of over 500 metres and as such is considered to be mountain zone. Considered as a symbol of dynamism in the heart of the European Union, the Rhône-Alpes Region is co-founder of the “Four Motors for Europe” which, with Catalonia, Lombardy and Baden-Wurttemberg, works in the university, scientific, economic, sport and cultural fields.

The demography is dynamic: Rhône-Alpes is one of the regions with the highest birth rates in Europe. In the mountain area, tourism is a consequent part of the economy. Those factors increase the demand on building and energy production: the region needs to focus on sustainable building, energy saving and renewable energy. MountEE will take place in three pilot territories of the region: Métropole Savoie, Communauté de Communes du Grésivaudan and Communauté de Commune de l’Oisans.
